Parents know this one, and so does anyone who loves someone going through a rough patch. The worry is well meant and it comes from real affection, but it leaks. The person you are worrying about starts to feel watched rather than cared for, and you end up sending the third message of the evening asking if they got home safely.

The plant
The red horse chestnut, a garden hybrid with deep pink flower spikes rather than the familiar white ones. It is the same family as White Chestnut and Chestnut Bud, three remedies drawn from closely related trees.
How to take it
The usual way is two drops from the stock bottle into a small glass of water, sipped through the day. If you are mixing several remedies, put two drops of each into a 30ml bottle of spring water and take four drops from that, four times a day.
