The Essence Guide

Find your remedy

Bach expected people to choose for themselves, by recognizing their own mood in a description. This does the same thing in two steps. Pick the feeling that sounds closest, tick whatever rings true, and you finish with three or four remedies to read about instead of thirty-eight.

Step 1 of 2
Which of these is closest to how you feel at the moment?

Pick one, or two if the feeling sits across both.

Common questions

Which Bach flower remedy do I need?

It depends on how you feel rather than on what is happening to you, which is the part most people find surprising. Two people in the same difficult week can need completely different remedies, because one is lying awake with a busy head and the other has quietly given up expecting things to improve. This test asks about the feeling first for exactly that reason, then gives you the three or four that fit it most closely.

How accurate is it?

Treat it as a shortcut rather than a verdict. It narrows thirty-eight down to a few in about a minute, and then the reading you do on those few is what settles it. If one of your matches sounds exactly right when you open its page, that is your answer. If none of them do, the results page has a way back into browsing.

What if none of the results feel right?

That happens, and it usually means the first step went slightly wide rather than that nothing fits. Go back and pick a different feeling, or read the seven groups and start from the one that sounds most like you. Choosing by recognizing yourself in a description is how the system was designed to work.

Can I take more than one remedy at once?

Yes, and most people do. The traditional way is a personal mix: two drops of each remedy into a 30ml bottle of spring water, then four drops from that bottle four times a day. Up to six or seven at once is normal, though three or four is an easier place to start.

Do you store my answers?

No. The whole thing is worked out in your browser and nothing is sent to us or saved anywhere. If you share your results link, it carries the names of the remedies you matched and nothing else about you.

Prefer to read rather than answer?

The seven emotional groups cover the same ground at your own pace, and the full list is searchable by name and by how you feel.
